Care for Nepal was established by two young Nepal ex-pats, Sudip Giri and Anjee Thapa, in response to the outpouring of support and caring they received in their adopted community of El Segundo, California, after the April 2015 earthquake.
Thanks to Care for Nepal, within just a couple of weeks after the earthquake, food, tents, and hygiene items were flowing into Ramkot, one of the areas hardest hit by the earthquake. Hundreds of families were able to eat and be protected from the elements thanks to the generosity of those in the United States that were touched by the scale of the devastation.
After the immediate needs were met, Sudip, Anjee, and others inspired by their work, formed a small Board of Directors to guide the 501c(3) charity on its transition from a disaster relief organization to one that provided long term protection and hope to the people of Nepal.
