Empowering communities.
Building lasting hope.

A grassroots 501(c)(3) born from the 2015 Nepal earthquake — connecting the generosity of El Segundo, California to underserved communities across Nepal.

Born from a disaster.
Built on community.

On April 25, 2015, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake devastated Nepal — killing over 9,000 people, injuring 23,000 more, and destroying hundreds of thousands of homes. Among those shaken were Sudip Giri and Anjee Thapa, two young Nepali ex-pats living in El Segundo, California.

"Within weeks, food, tents, and hygiene items were flowing into Ramkot — one of the hardest-hit villages — thanks to neighbors who had never even been to Nepal."

What began as emergency relief became something more durable. Sudip, Anjee, and those inspired by their work formed a Board of Directors to guide Care for Nepal's transition from disaster response to long-term protection and hope for the people of Nepal.

Today we are a registered 501(c)(3) charity — a grassroots organization with deep roots in El Segundo and deep connections in Nepal. Every dollar we raise goes directly toward programs that create lasting change.

A grassroots organization with a global heart

Care for Nepal is headquartered in El Segundo, California and officially recognized as a 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 47-4142145). We are a lean, volunteer-driven organization — which means your donations work harder here than at most non-profits.

We operate with radical transparency and deep community ties. Our founders have personal connections to the villages we serve, and every program decision reflects the real needs of the people we walk alongside — not top-down assumptions about what those needs should be.

We are actively fundraising and expanding our programs. If you share our belief that dignified, community-driven development creates lasting change, we'd love to hear from you.
